50 cents per mile, starting January 1, 2010.




What is the Social Security Wage Base?
The taxable wage base for Social Security in 2009 has increased to $106,800 from $102,000.




What forms do I need to fill out for a new employee?
You will need to fill out Form W-4, CT W-4 and I-9. You can find these forms by clicking on the links provided. How do I apply for a Federal Employment Identification Number (FEIN)? What about a State of Connecticut identification number?
To obtain a FEIN you will need to fill out Form SS-4 Application for Employer Identification Number. Follow the instructions for filing. You can obtain your FEIN online from the IRS website (www.irs.gov/smallbiz). There are many options to get your FEIN by phone, fax or mail. To register for a State of Connecticut business tax number you will need to fill out Form Reg-1 Business Taxes Registration Application or you can file online at Connecticut Fast File.
